WiMAX is a wireless digital communications system, also known as IEEE 802.16, intended for wireless "metropolitan area networks." WiMAX can be used for broadband wireless networking similar to the more common WiFi protocol. WiBro is the Korean version of broadband wireless networks, similar to WiMax.
WiMAX allows for more efficient bandwidth use, interference avoidance, and is intended to allow higher data rates over longer distances. These higher data rates will allow new opportunities to expand deployment of video conferencing over IP, along with other VoIP based services.
RADVISION’s protocol stacks and client solutions are especially suitable for developing WiMAX VoIP products.
