What exactly is SYNCON? |

SYNCON is a unified light desktop client terminal, which serves as a PC LCD monitor and multimedia communications terminal. With a 22” screen and stunning 4-CIF video resolution, SYNCON reduces desktop clutter by merging a PC, video terminal, IP Phone, Instant Messaging, and PC monitor into a single, fully functional integrated device.

How is SYNCON different from a Tandberg or Polycom desktop video conferencing station that seems to offer the same features? |

These systems are very expensive and tend to clutter your workspace, since you need two different monitors – one for your PC and the other for video conferencing. With SYNCON, you get both solutions in a single LCD screen for a substantially lower price. It may cost the same as a high-end LCD screen, but it offers many more features.

What’s next? An LCD video conferencing station that also makes coffee? |

Obviously not. But the features SYNCON offers are nothing to laugh about. SYNCON supports built-in 3-way video conferencing, Presence and Instant Messaging – all in a familiar interface that is similar to existing IM clients today. There are also powerful File Sharing capabilities, which make collaboration a lot easier if you are using SYNCON systems throughout your company.

What about multipoint video conferencing? |

Multipoint is also supported. SYNCON is providing high resolution video conferencing as well as large-scale multipoint conferencing when integrated with RADVISION’s Multipoint Conferencing Unit (MCU).

The product is designed and targeted for enterprises who are exploring ways to exploit VoIP and video conferencing in their businesses but are reluctant to adopt these technologies due to high costs. SYNCON is designed to be an enterprise-wide solution; on every employees’ desktop.

Why did Samsung select RADVISION as its partner? |

RADVISION has long reputation as experts in VoIP and video industry. We were looking for a partner that has good technology expertise in the video communications market and more importantly dedication to work up to Samsung standard. In partnership, I believe SYNCON will be a successful product.

What is the roadmap for this product in the future? |

This first release offers many advanced functions. We plan to introduce a full ecosystem in the future through the cooperation with RADVISION.
